Arjuna Obtains Pashupatastra From Lord Shiva And Karna Seeks Brahmastra From Sage Parasurama : Episode 94

Recap for Previous Episode :

Vidura returns to Hastinapura and reconciles with Dhritarashtra. Shikhandini becomes Shikhandi with the help of Yaksha Sthunakarna. In Dwaraka, Krishna reveals the mysterious mirror and debates dharma with Balarama. Duryodhana and Shakuni prepare to unleash the demon Mukasura to sabotage Arjuna’s penance.

Arjuna Battles Shiva and Receives Pashupatastra

Shakuni and Dushasana incite the demon Mookasura, informing him that Arjuna is meditating on the Indrakeel mountains near Kailasa. Mookasura takes the form of a wild boar and charges directly at Arjuna. As Arjuna prepares to release a deadly arrow, another arrow from a hunter strikes the boar and kills it. Both claim the kill.

A fierce fight follows between Arjuna and the hunter. They clash in archery and then in hand-to-hand combat. The hunter easily overpowers Arjuna. Realizing he is fighting no ordinary man, Arjuna folds his hands and asks who he truly is.

The hunter reveals himself as Lord Shiva. He blesses Arjuna and grants him the divine Pashupatastra, the most powerful celestial weapon. Shiva then summons Indra and commands him to take Arjuna to heaven and grant him Vajrayudha, while instructing other gods to bestow divine weapons.

Karna Seeks Parashurama

A spy reaches Hastinapur and reveals to Duryodhana and Shakuni that Arjuna is receiving divine astras from Shiva, Indra, Varuna and others. Shakuni turns to Karna and warns that with Pashupatastra, Arjuna has surpassed all warriors.

Shakuni insists that Karna must learn Brahmastra directly from Sage Parashurama, but since Parashurama refuses to teach any kshatriya, Karna must disguise himself as a Brahmin. Karna is reluctant, but out of loyalty to Duryodhana, he agrees.

Arjuna in Indra’s Palace

Indra brings Arjuna to his celestial palace. Chitrasena receives him warmly. The apsara Urvashi does not participate in the welcome, considering Arjuna to be merely a mortal. Indra explains that Arjuna is Nara, the eternal companion of Narayana, and Urvashi apologizes, secretly developing affection for him.

Shikhandi Returns to Panchala

Drishtadyumna informs King Drupada that he could not find Shikhandi at Gandapavana, where the spies last reported seeing him. Drupada is overcome with dread as he remembers the ultimatum issued by Hiranyavarman, Shikhandi’s father-in-law: before the end of Amavasya, Shikhandi must prove that he is a man, or else Panchala would face destruction. Believing all hope is lost, Drupada contemplates ending his life.

At that moment, Shikhandi returns and narrates how a Yaksha blessed him with masculinity. Overwhelmed with relief, Drupada and Prishata rejoice that their kingdom and honor are saved.

Karna Approaches Sage Parashurama

Karna Dresses as Brahmin to Receive Education from Parashurama

Karna prays to Surya and asks that his Kavacha-Kundala be hidden or revealed at his will. Surya grants the boon. Karna disguises himself as a Brahmin and approaches Parashurama. The sage observes him keenly and remarks that he seems to possess the bearing of a kshatriya.
