Duel Between Bhishma and Parashurama and Amba's Disappointment : Episode 7
Amba Seeks Justice from Parasurama
Amba reaches Parasurama’s hermitage and bows to the sage.
“King of Kashi is a great devotee of Shiva,” says Parasurama. “How is he?”
Amba replies, “He is tormented — because of me.”
She narrates everything — Bhishma’s abduction, Shalwa’s rejection, and her humiliation in Hastinapur. Parasurama, moved by her grief, summons Bhishma and commands him to marry Amba.
Bhishma refuses.
Parasurama reminds him, “You dragged her in front of kings from every land. You owe her justice.”
Bhishma argues, “My vow forbids marriage. I acted for my brother’s sake.”
Parasurama warns, “When strength defies truth, it is strength that must fall. If you reject dharma, I will fight you myself.”
Bhishma pleads restraint, but Parasurama raises his axe.
“Either marry Amba or face me in battle.”
Bhishma bows. “Then I must fight, my Guru.”
The Duel of Guru and Disciple
Storms rage as Parasurama and Bhishma clash. The earth quakes; seas roar; forests blaze. Their weapons blaze like fire and thunder. At last, Bhishma lowers his bow. “Enough, my Guru. I surrender my life to you.”
Parasurama’s anger melts.
“I saw you renounce power, pleasure, and now life itself. No one can defeat you — dharma itself shields you. Not accepting Amba is your dharma.”
He blesses Bhishma and ends the war.
Amba watches in disbelief. “Even my Guru has forsaken me. Only Shiva can give me justice now.”
Vichitraveerya's illness: Queen’s Vigil
At Hastinapur, Queen Satyavati prays to Durga for her son’s recovery. The puja plate slips from her hands — an ill omen.
Meanwhile, Vichitraveerya meets Bhishma in the armoury.
“I long to master all weapons like you,” he says.
Bhishma smiles. “Bravery lies not only in war, but also in facing life’s trials. You have that courage.”
Vichitraveerya's Last Night
That night, Vichitraveerya spends tender moments with Ambika. He paints her image, praising her beauty. They retire for the night — but by dawn, tragedy strikes.
A maid rushes to the temple: “My Queen, the prince is dead!”
Satyavati runs to his chamber, sees her son’s lifeless form, and breaks down. Then suddenly she stiffens.
“No! He isn’t dead. No one must know. Keep the doors closed. Not even Bhishma should enter!”
The Queen’s Secret
Next morning, Bhishma is stopped at the prince’s chamber. The maid says the Queen forbade anyone from entering.
Satyavati later tells him the truth. “Vichitraveerya is gone. But the kingdom cannot be left without an heir. Preserve his body with oils — I must think of a way to continue the lineage.”
