Duryodhana Plots to Humiliate Krishna : Episode 120
Recap of Previous Episode :
Krishna agrees to go to Hastinapura as a peace ambassador despite the warriors’ impatience for war. Pandavas and Panchala allies fear that peace will obstruct their vows of vengeance. Krishna describes the immense strength awaiting them in battle and narrates the story behind Karna’s Nagastra. In Hastinapura, Bhishma warns Dhritarashtra and Gandhari to control Duryodhana before Krishna arrives.Yudhishtra’s Reluctance and Krishna’s Resolve
Yudhishtra sits in deep thought as Krishna arrives to take leave. Krishna asks whether He may declare war if the peace mission fails. Yudhishtra replies gently that war must remain the final resort and should be invoked only when every path to peace is exhausted. Yet, he adds with complete surrender, he will abide by whatever decision Krishna makes on his behalf.
Draupadi’s Unhealed Wound
Draupadi’s eyes fill with tears when Krishna visits her. She confesses that although Yudhishtra seeks peace, her heart burns with the fire of humiliation. She declares she will not rest until she smears her hair with the blood of Dushasana.
Krishna reminds her of Yudhishtra’s longing for peace. Draupadi becomes fierce and replies that Yudhishtra merely watched her humiliation in the royal court, while she endured it in body and soul — forgiveness is not so easy. Krishna tells her that personal grief should not become the cause for rivers of innocent blood. The moment to punish evil was at the time of the crime; justice delayed has grown into this catastrophe.
Yet, Krishna also assures her that His peace mission is unlikely to soften Duryodhana’s stubbornness. The mission may fail, and its consequences may be disastrous, especially for her. Draupadi says calmly that she is prepared.
Preparations for Krishna’s Arrival
Dhritarashtra convenes a council to plan for Krishna’s arrival. Bhishma, Drona, and Kripacharya request a grand reception befitting Krishna’s stature. Vidura insists that true honor lies not in display, but in granting Him what He seeks — peace.
Duryodhana scoffs, saying Krishna is only a messenger and deserves no elaborate welcome. But Dhritarashtra overrules him and orders grand arrangements.
Krishna Enters Hastinapura
Krishna arrives. Dhritarashtra, Gandhari, Bhishma, Drona, Vidura and others greet Him with respect at the palace entrance. Inside, Duryodhana, Dushasana, Karna, and Shakuni remain seated and gaze with disdain.
As Krishna enters the hall, they refuse to stand. Krishna smiles faintly and presses His toe to the ground — and all three fall flat at His feet. Shakuni, stunned, asks why they fell together. Krishna does not answer, but turns to Dhritarashtra and politely asks permission to rest and meet the court tomorrow.
Dhritarashtra invites Him to stay in his palace; Duryodhana promises unmatched luxuries. Krishna declines with grace, saying that as a neutral messenger of Pandavas and Kauravas, He must not stay with either side.
Annoyed and humiliated, Duryodhana fumes as Krishna leaves with Vidura. Krishna reveals that He has a home in Hastinapura and prefers to stay there.
Krishna Chooses Vidura’s Home
A curious Brahmin asks why Krishna chose Vidura’s residence. Vidura answers humbly that nothing he owns is truly his; everything belongs to Krishna already. Kunti is overwhelmed with joy to see Krishna and receives Him with affection.
Duryodhana Plots Revenge
Still burning with humiliation from falling before Krishna, Duryodhana plots revenge. He tells Shakuni that he will rig the throne meant for Krishna; when Krishna sits, the seat will collapse and He will fall at Duryodhana’s feet. Shakuni promises to prepare everything. Questions of Loyalty
Kunti asks Krishna whether He can persuade Duryodhana to surrender the kingdom to Yudhishtra. Krishna replies that if even she, the queen and his elder, could not move him, how could He? He has come because Yudhishtra requested Him, and to see the truth for Himself. He then turns to Vidura and asks directly whose side he will take if war comes. Vidura answers without hesitation: he will stand with the Kauravas. Krishna smiles. Kunti looks at Vidura in disbelief.
