Keechaka's Brothers Want To Burn Draupadi Along With Keechaka's Corpse : Episode 111

After killing Keechaka, Bhima and Draupadi walk away.

The next morning, a maid enters the dancing hall and screams, on finding Keechaka's body sprawled on the ground. Soon, everybody crowds around the body. Keechaka's brothers remember Draupadi's piteous call for protection and her threat to Keechaka that he would be killed by her Gandharva husbands if he continued to harrass her. They surmise correctly that Draupadi's Gandharva husband alone could have killed the invincible Keechaka. They pull her, and once again, the Pandavas remain mute witnesses. The brothers threaten that they would immolate Draupadi along with Keechaka on the same pyre. Draupadi protests that only wives would ascend the same pyre, but Keechaka's brothers drag draupadi to the pyre. Suddenly Bhima appears from nowhere, with his face covered. He overpowers all of Keechaka's brothers and kills them.

The mysterious death of the hundred and odd brothers of Keechaka reaches Queen Sudeshna and she is now terrified of employing Draupadi as an ordinary maid. Draupadi begs her to give her protection for a few more weeks only; otherwise the only option she has is to approach her Gandharva husbands for protection. Sudeshna agrees to accommodate her for a little longer.

The news of Keechaka's death reaches Hastinapura. Shakuni explains to Duryodhana that this meant that Pandavas are very much in Virata Kingdom. Only Jarasandha, Duryodhana or Bhima have the capacity to kill Keechaka, and considering Jarasandha's death, only Bhima could have killed Keechaka. Shakuni reckons that if they attack Virata kingdom, Pandavas would be forced to help their benfactors who have given them refuge, and Duryodhana would be able to locate and identify the Pandavas. Shakuni also suggests that they should take the help of the Trigarta king Susharma who has been constantly defeated by Keechaka and who would now be interested in attacking Virata Kingdom. Duryodhana plans to seek Dritarashtra's approval the next day.

The next day, the Trigarta king himself arrives at Hastinapura seeking Kauravas' help in attacking and conquering Virata kingdom. Bhishma and Vidura do not approve of this, saying Virata is their friend. They suggest that Susharma should manage his own affairs. As usual, this leads to a verbal attack between Karna and Duryodhana on one side and Bhishma and Vidura on the other.
