Dushasana Confirms That Pandavas are Alive : Episode 62
Recap for the Previous Episode :
Shakuni grows anxious as signs point to all their enemies uniting. Vidura receives news of the Pandavas’ victory and quietly plans their safe return to Hastinapura. Krishna reveals the elemental truth of Draupadi and the Pandavas. Shakuni sends Dushshasana in disguise to confirm Arjuna’s identity. Drupada honors the Pandavas, and Vyasa awaits Vidura’s message before revealing them to the world. Draupadi marries all five brothers through a sacred, dharmic ritual.Draupadi’s Marriage and Vyasa’s Blessing
As instructed by Vyasa, Draupadi enters the fire and re-emerges a virgin before marrying each of the five Pandavas. Hidden among the onlookers, Dushasana — disguised and furious — watches the ceremonies with growing disgust.
When the rituals conclude, the Pandavas and Draupadi bow to Vyasa. He blesses them with long life and prosperity, adding that Sage Narada will soon arrive to teach them how to live in harmony as one family. Until then, they must wait patiently.
The Pandavas then pay respects to Drupada, his queen, and Kunti. Kunti blesses Draupadi, reminding her of the ideals set by noble women — Indrani to Indra, Swaha to Agni, Rohini to Chandra, Damayanti to Nala, Bhadra to Kubera, Arundati to Vasishta, and Lakshmi to Narayana. She urges Draupadi to care for children, elders, and the needy; to protect what her husbands earn; and to live joyfully with the blessings of motherhood.
Vyasa departs, and Dushasana slips away from Panchala, seething.
Dushasana Reports to Hastinapur
Back in Hastinapur, Duryodhana and Karna sit with Shakuni when Dushasana arrives. Dushasana confirms the worst: Arjuna won Draupadi, and Draupadi is now married to all five Pandavas.
Bhishma and Vidura Learn of the Defeat
A messenger brings Bhishma the news of the Kauravas’ humiliation in Panchala. Worried about how Dhritarashtra will receive it, Bhishma sends the messenger to Vidura while he himself goes to the king.
But before Vidura can intervene, Bhishma has already given Dhritarashtra the bitter truth. The king clutches his chest in anguish. Vidura arrives moments later and quickly softens the blow, saying that the reports from Panchala are confused and contradictory. Dhritarashtra, torn between fear and hope, calms down slightly.
Duryodhana’s Fury and Shakuni’s Restraint
Unable to sleep, Duryodhana storms out of his tent, shouting that he will neither eat nor rest until he takes revenge for the insult at Panchala. He demands immediate war and urges Shakuni to send a message asking Dhritarashtra for troops.
Shakuni firmly refuses. As long as Bhishma and Vidura stand guard over Hastinapur, he says, war is impossible. In fact, they will convince Dhritarashtra to welcome the Pandavas back with aarti, not battle. Dushasana despairs: how can they return to Hastinapur now? Even the youngest child would taunt them for this defeat.
