Indra brings his son Arjuna back to the Pandavas’ cottage in Dwaitavana.
He announces proudly that the divyastras Arjuna has received from Shiva and other gods have made the Pandavas invincible. The most formidable among them, the Pashupatastra, given after Arjuna’s duel with Shiva disguised as a hunter, ensures certain victory over the Kauravas when war arrives.
Shikhandi Dons Amba’s Garland
At Panchala, Drupada discusses plans with Drishtadyumna and Shikhandi to build a shrine for Lord Subramanya. Shikhandi notices a garland hanging on a spear and is instantly overwhelmed by memories of a previous birth as Amba.
He recognizes it as the same garland he once placed for any warrior who dared to challenge Bhishma—ignored and abandoned by all.
With fierce resolve, he wears the garland, ready to confront Bhishma. Drupada stops him, reminding him that the moment is not yet right and that training must come first. He resolves to swallow his pride and approach his rival Dronacharya to teach astra–shastra vidya to Drishtadyumna and Shikhandi.
Duryodhana Plans to Humiliate the Pandavas
Duryodhana convinces Dhritarashtra to let him take his brothers and their wives on a pleasure excursion to Dwaitavana, hiding his true intention: to flaunt his wealth and mock the Pandavas’ hardship.
Gandhari anxiously warns Bhanumathi to avoid confrontation.
Upon reaching Dwaitavana, Bhanumathi objects to setting up camp, but Duryodhana, Karna and Shakuni overrule her.
Kauravas Insult the Pandavas and Draupadi
Duryodhana, Karna, and Shakuni visit Yudhishtra during a sacred yagna and hurl insults at the Pandavas and Draupadi, boasting about their fortunes and laughing at the Pandavas’ exile.
They vow to return the next day for further humiliation.
Kaurava Soldiers Clash with the Gandharvas
Duryodhana’s men reach a lake where the Gandharva Chitrasena is relaxing with his wives.
Chitrasena refuses to allow them access to the lake and its private surroundings. The Kaurava soldiers threaten retaliation and go to report to Duryodhana.
Enraged, Dushasana marches with troops to confront the Gandharvas and assert Duryodhana’s authority.
