Pandavas Enter Hastinapur to a Grand Welcome Even As Gandhari Hears Eerie Laughter : Episode 68

(In continuation with the previous episode,) Kunti expresses her gratitude to Vidura, but Vidura kneels down before her to seek her blessings. Vidura says he is assailed by guilt for remaining a mere spectator when Pandavas were meted out several injustices. He has been helpless because he doesn't have sufficient proof of Kaurava's evil designs. Kunti consoles him saying he would always have Pandu's blessings. Draupadi takes Vidura's blessings for a long and prosperous married life enriched with many good sons.

Gandhari is excited about the home-coming of the new bride, but Dritarashtra pronounces unequivocally that Draupadi is going to be the source of all troubles in the future. He reminds Gandhari that prior to departing for Varanavat, Yudhishtra was declared the crown prince. And now the problem will rear its head just where it was nipped. With Yudhishtra being the first to marry (before Duryodhana), the odds against Duryodhana becoming the future emperor have gained strength.

Pandavas express concern regarding living in the same palace as the Kauravas after having learned all about their treachery. Vidura advises them to ignore the lingering doubts and carry on with a calm mind.

Dhritarashtra calls for a meeting and tells his sons that he expects them to welcome the home-coming Pandavas and their wife Draupadi. Duryodhana seethes with anger and refuses to participate in the welcome ceremony. Karna and Shakuni also say they too do not want to have anything to do with the celebrations. The next day, however, Shakuni joins Bhishma and others as they ceremonially welcome the Pandavas and Kunti.

Gandhari is excited to usher in the Pandavas, but Dhritarashtra is troubled by Duryodhana's attitude and his own helplessness. Gandhari hears an evil guffawing laughter that nobody else hears, and feels a foreboding of bad events in the future.
