At the End of Twelfth Year, Pandavas Plan For Ajnatavasa : Episode 104

Recap of Previous Episode :

Abhimanyu displays remarkable prowess in archery and mace warfare. Duryodhana cunningly sends Sage Durvasa to trap the Pandavas. Draupadi desperately calls Krishna to save them from the sage’s wrath. Krishna finds a tiny leaf in the Akshaya Patra and prepares to perform a miracle.

Krishna Performs a Miracle

Krishna appears before a distraught Draupadi in answer to her desperate call for help. He asks her to bring the Akshaya Patra, and finds a tiny fragment of green leaf stuck to its surface. Smiling gently, He places it in His mouth and offers it with devotion to Sage Durvasa in spirit.

Instantly, Durvasa and his disciples feel overwhelmingly satisfied — as though they have just eaten a great feast. Burping loudly and holding their stomachs in embarrassment, they rise from the riverbank and return to the hermitage.

Durvasa tells Yudhishtra that they are too full to eat another morsel and must take leave. He blesses the Pandavas sincerely and departs.

Back in Hastinapur, when the news reaches Duryodhana, he is furious that yet another scheme has failed.

Shakuni Seeks a New Path of Destruction

Shakuni, refusing to give up, proposes a darker scheme. He takes Duryodhana to the hermitage of Sage Kalamuni, a disciple of Sage Jabali and a master of Atharvana Veda ritual magic.

Kalamuni, hideous in appearance with matted hair and blazing eyes, listens silently as Shakuni requests him to destroy the Pandavas. When the sage meditates, he sees clearly that the Pandavas were born with divine blessings and protected by celestial forces. He hesitates to interfere with destiny.

But Shakuni persuades him relentlessly. Kalamuni finally agrees and invokes a powerful rakshasa from the sacrificial fire. The demon warns that he will not return until he has taken a life — and disappears into the night in search of the Pandavas.

The Pandavas Prepare for Ajnatavasa

As the Pandavas resume their journey, Sahadeva notices a sage stumbling suspiciously. He watches closely and realizes that the man is an impostor. Bhima rushes forward, and the spy confesses that he was sent by Duryodhana.

At Yudhishtra’s instruction, Bhima releases the frightened spy. Yudhishtra then requests all sages accompanying them — except Dhaumya — to leave, as the twelve years of exile have concluded and they must now prepare for the one-year Ajnatavasa, living in disguise.
