Krishna Asks Kunti To Reveal To Karna The Secret of His Birth : Episode 122

Recap of Previous Episode :

Krishna demands justice for the Pandavas, but Duryodhana refuses even five villages and humiliates Vidura. Shakuni and Duryodhana attempt to disgrace Krishna, but He reveals His Vishwaroopa, awakening awe in the court. Krishna warns of destruction and declares war. Vidura breaks his Vishnu Astra and frees himself from internal conflict, while Kunti learns of all that transpired.

Duryodhana Rejects Peace

Duryodhana discusses plans for war with Karna and Dushasana. Dhritarashtra and Bhishma enter and urge him to abandon the thought of battle, reminding him that Krishna revealed His Universal Form and pleaded for peace. But Duryodhana refuses to see divinity in Krishna or accept the truth in His words. Blinded by arrogance, he ignores the counsel of father and grandsire. Bhishma turns away, admitting helplessly that nothing more can be done.

The Secret of Karna’s Birth

At dawn, Kunti watches the rising sun. Krishna approaches gently and asks what memories the sunrise awakens. Kunti hesitates, but Krishna tells her He already knows the truth hidden deep in her heart. She remembers her encounter with the sun god and the child born from that union. Krishna reveals softly that the son she lost in infancy is Karna. Kunti recalls the strange ache she felt the first time she saw Karna in the arena where the princes displayed their skills — an inexplicable pull she never understood.

Joy and pain surge within her as she learns she has found her lost child at last. Krishna, however, expresses sorrow that Karna has bound himself to the side of adharma. Kunti resolves to tell Karna the truth and persuade him to join the Pandavas. Krishna advises her gently — she has done nothing for Karna except give birth; she must not expect blind obedience now. She must try, but if he refuses to change sides, she must at least make him promise not to use the Nagastra twice against Arjuna.

Vidura Accepts Fate

Vidura seeks forgiveness from Dhritarashtra for breaking the Vishnu Astra and taking a vow not to fight. Dhritarashtra consoles him, saying Vidura acted rightly, though he mourns the humiliation inflicted by his own son. Vidura responds gravely: war is now unavoidable, and they must face its consequences with steadiness.

Kunti Meets Karna

Later, Kunti approaches Karna by the river while he completes his morning worship. He brings her to his residence. With trembling voice, Kunti narrates the circumstances of his birth. Karna speaks of his lifelong anguish — carrying the swaddling cloth from house to house begging to find his mother, enduring mockery as sutaputra, standing alone against the world. Kunti pleads with him to join the Pandavas. As the eldest, he could rule Hastinapura and unite the family.

Karna Chooses Loyalty

Karna responds with firm resolve. The very thought is wrong, he says. Whatever faults Duryodhana may have, to him Karna owes everything. Duryodhana gave him dignity when the world denied it, crowned him ruler of Anga, shared power with him in Hastinapura, and kept him always by his side. Such loyalty cannot be abandoned.

He refuses to betray the man who lifted him from humiliation to honor.
