Day 2 of Kurukshetra War : Episode 132

Dritarashtra and Gandhari are happy that Pandavas were able to kill even one Atirathi and Maharathi of Kauravas. It appears that Kauravas are leading. The sun sets and the warriors on both sides retire for the day.

Duryodhana is extremely delighted with Bhishma's performance in the first day battle. He heaps praises on Shalya and Bhishma, but Bhishma is unmoved by the praise. He warns that battles can be unpredictable, and it is quite likely that Duryodhana may shower abuses on him another day.

Virata king and queen are wailing over the death of both their sons on day one itself. Yudhishtra is upset too. Krishna consoles them with another lecture on the immortality of souls and the lofty ideals of Karma. Krishna tells Yudhishtra not to attribute himself for the sufferings caused.

Yudhishtra tells Drishtadyumna to devise strategies for the next day's battle. Drishtadhyumna decides to use 'krauncha vyuha'. In the Kaurava camp, Bhishma discusses the game plan for the next day of the war with others and decides on Garuda Vyuha, with himself at the front as the beak.

Arjuna engages Bhishma in a fierce battle that raged for hours. On another front, there is a duel between Drona and Drishtadyumna. Drishtadyumna is unable to contain the intensely lethal attacks of Drona. Seeing this, Bhima comes to Drishtadyumna's aid and gives Drona a fitting counter fight. Duryodhana sends Kalinga army to protect Drona, but most of them, including the king of Kalinga, lost their lives at Bhima's hands. Bhishma immediately comes to relieve the battered Kalinga forces. Satyaki fights with Bhurisravas. Later, he comes to Bhima's aid, shoots at Bhishma's charioteer and kills him. Bhishma's horses, with no one to control them, bolt carrying Bhishma away from the battlefield. The Kaurava army suffers great losses at the end of the second day.

The Virata king wants to fight with Shalya and avenge his son's death but Krupacharya intercepts his way asking to fight with him first.

At night, the injured soldiers of both sides are tended to by vaidyas. The family members moan and grieve. Duryodhana announces state's help for the families of the injured and the bereaved.
