Arjuna Swears to Kill Jayadratha Before Dusk : Episode 150

Recap of Previous Episode :

On the thirteenth day, Abhimanyu is trapped inside the Chakravyuha and attacked unfairly by multiple warriors at once. His weapons destroyed and surrounded, he fights with the wheel of his broken chariot until Duryodhana and Dushasana kill him cruelly. The Pandavas grieve, dreading Arjuna’s reaction as he returns after killing Susharma. The stage is set for Arjuna’s vow.

Arjuna Returns from Battle

After slaying Susharma, Arjuna and Krishna ride back toward the Pandava camp. On the way, they see a young boy laid on a funeral pyre. A grieving father insists on dying alongside him, while another man tries to console him.

Krishna watches silently. The consoling figure turns to Arjuna — it is Sage Narada, and the grieving father is none other than Indra in disguise.

Narada requests Arjuna to bring the father to his senses.

Arjuna gently explains that death is irreversible, and grief must be endured with courage. Indra finally accepts the truth. Krishna smiles knowingly, revealing that the scene was intended to prepare Arjuna for what awaits at the camp.

Grief in the Pandava Camp

Subhadra and Uttara are inconsolable. Subhadra cries that a mere boy has faced the most dangerous warriors alone while the elders watched helplessly.

No reasoning about honour, or angry vows of revenge, can pacify her.

When Arjuna arrives, it takes a moment for him to understand the tragic news. As every detail is narrated — the isolation inside the Chakravyuha, and the brutality of Abhimanyu’s end — Arjuna trembles with rage. ,p>He lashes out at Yudhishtra, blaming his gambling for every calamity that has followed. Yudhishtra remains calm and accepts his past mistakes.

Arjuna’s Vow Against Jayadratha

Arjuna prepares to kill himself out of unbearable grief. The family restrains him, but Arjuna wrests free, determined to kill Jayadratha instantly. Krishna follows him and stops the reckless act.

Holding the Gandiva and raising his hand toward the sky, Arjuna swears: “I will kill Jayadratha before sunset tomorrow. If I fail, I shall enter the fire and end my life.” The Pandavas freeze in shock. The vow is taken.

Duryodhana’s Response

Duryodhana lights the pyre of his son Lakshmana. He stands expressionless, worrying Shakuni and Dushasana. He says his son has attained veera swarga, fighting Abhimanyu — equal to Arjuna in skill. He thanks Jayadratha, promising full protection from Arjuna. Jayadratha expresses gratitude for the chance to avenge his humiliation.

Karna remains troubled; he cannot celebrate a victory won through collective assault on one unarmed youth. Duryodhana acknowledges his discomfort, yet praises his loyalty.

Kunti and Gandhari Mourn Together

Kunti and Gandhari each receive the heartbreaking news of their grandsons’ deaths. They meet to console one another, united by shared sorrow rather than rivalry.

A messenger announces Arjuna’s vow to kill Jayadratha by sunset or burn himself alive. Both mothers are shattered by the new fear that tomorrow may claim another son.
