Scene 1 Krishna and Balarama are standing in a chariot and are at war with Jarasandha. Both are equally matched, but at times, Jarasandha seems more powerful. Goddess Lakshmi and Sage Narada are watching them from above. At one stage, Krishna and Balarama get down from the chariot and start running. Goddess Lakshmi defends her husband's action saying He must have a reason for this. Jarasandha is upset because he cannot chase a fleeing warrior and hence cannot fulfill the promise to his daughters. Narada follows Balarama and Krishna and asks why he does not kill Jarasandha but chooses to flee. Krishna narrates how Jarasandha once prayed to Brahma and obtained boons from him. Jarasandha asks Brahma to grant him the boon that no Yadava could ever kill him. Brahma asks the reason, stating he has already received a boon that no human or god could kill him.
